If you learn by example, like I do, then this is the best book to learn a complete solution. I have been trying to figure out how to put all the parts together for quite some time, but every resource gives just enough to create frustration...but NOT this book. It's very clear what files to create, what to name them, how to structure them, and what parts of the files need modification. Not only that, but he describes WHY!!! I've been trying to find a Vue 2 book that even comes close. Please, let me know if you are writing a Vue JS book. I'm waiting for you!This is THE BEST programming learning book I have ever read. I have been programming C/C++ and Java interfacing databases for 20 years (along with X11/Motif GUI development many years ago). I've done LAMP (Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP), but am trying to understand most used Web development frameworks. After many outdated books on parts of the puzzle, this one put the puzzle together.

Great info and a great programmer behind the book. However, the editing of the book destroys the learning experience at times with having to go to the source rather than keep the flow of the book going.The code snippets at times are extremely brief.Spelling errors in the book at times.

I was really interested in having a good tutorial on how to wire up Rails and Angular instead of using Asset Pipeline. The book actually seems to cover that very well and based on that alone I would give it a higher rating.However, nothing from the book was tested on Windows and there was no warning at all. For free/hobby work, I get it if people skimp on Windows testing or documentation. For a paid product, it should have done better testing with specific instructions or flat out said use a Mac, Linux, or run Vagrant if on Windows.If you get through Foreman issues with Chapter 1 and BCrypt issues in Chapter 2, it gets better.

I would recommend this book for a developer who has previous experience in the field of app development, or someone who at least has an intermediate knowledge of HTML, CSS, Javascript, and SQL.

An engaging read for Rails developers who want to go beyond the basics. You'll learn specialized front-end and back-end skills in a digestible way by coding along with an example app. I especially liked the deep-dive on Postgres database indexes and have been able to apply that knowledge to speed up queries in both my personal and work projects.

I love this book. It has brought together a host of new technologies to put to use, and demonstrates them in an understandable, and interesting manner. I enjoy working each new chapter into my own projects. It’s fun stuff.
