Each individual entry within a chapter includes an illustration, a descriptive paragraph, and a helpful "where found". This is a very handy resource showing the great variety of natural subjects found in the Great Lakes region.

This book is an EXCELLENT all-in-one guidebook to have with you in when you're out in nature in the Great Lakes. It's not as detailed as some of the other guides that are out there, but the advantage is that it covers both flora and fauna all in one book so there's no need to lug around 6 or 7 different guidebooks in your pack.I borrowed this from my library at first but after about a week I realized it was a really great resource to own and ran out and bought a copy for myself. Now I don't go to the park without it!

I purchased this book for my vacation in Michigan's Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. I found it to be a helpful and interesting field guide that my children could also enjoy.
