A much different take on the fascination of the exotic. If you like chinoiserie, you will love Turquerie, and maybe even feel inspired to add a little ottoman to your décor.

great history read plus great illustrations

Great book on the subject. I love it.

A beautiful coffee-table worthy book on a subject that has been little studied until recently. The best thing about Williams' book is that he brings together evidence of the collective interest in turquerie from across Europe. However do know that this is chiefly a book focused on art and material culture; there is far more to the subject than this book has space to discuss. It's less a comprehensive study than an excellent survey of a subject.
