I've purchased all volumes up to 22 and the TV show has just about caught up to wear I am in the novels. These books are friggen awesome. I don't read much and my buddy lent me VOL 1 after he knew I liked the show. Well, I burned through the first one and then just went on a tear buying 4 volumes at a time...the price is pretty good for what you get out of these. $9-$15 is the range I've paid per novel, I'm not sure why they aren't the same but anyways, I keep buying them none the less. The story was written before the TV Show and the show follows the story but there is some differences. The written story is more violent and graphic then the tv show but the tv show does a decent job of sticking with main ideas. I've noticed that certain plot things that happen in the book also happen in the show but there is a unique twist like a different character it happens to or something like that. Which makes reading these volumes great cuz I have some idea of where the story is going (after having watched all tv episodes) but there are still surprises. If you like the TV show and haven't read these, give it a try and you will get a whole new experience of the Walking Dead story. I'm putting this same review under every volume I've purchased (1-22) so people can see it. go buy these!

The group attempts to settle down again after their nightmarish experiences at Woodbury. Relationships among the survivors at the prison continue to grow as Lori enters the last stages of her pregnancy. All the while, the group tries to prepare themselves for the sure revenge of The Governor and his town of psychotic survivors.

Issues 37-42 of the post-Apocalyptic zombie comic. This arc was easier to read than the previous one, in that while violence as always was present, it wasn't over the top as in the torture scene from This Sorrowful Life.That scene has its repercussions on Michonne throughout this arc. Clearly something isn't quite right in her head.While zombie-caused deaths occur as you would expect, this story is a whole lot positive than most of the arcs have been. New birth, marriage, temporary respite from attacks - it seems as if Kirkman is giving the characters a well-needed reprieve from the endless violence and bad times that have surrounded them. This ends rather suddenly at the end of this collection, and the next arc promises to turn their world upside down again with plenty of blood and carnage.This arc was well titled - The Calm Before the coming storm indeed.

I choose the comic over the show any day. I've been reading the comic since 2007. The show seems to bring out the worst of all the characters, mostly in that you have to hear the annoying constant arguing. (My friend has renamed it The Walking Argument.) For me, that is not a plus. I prefer the storyline in the comic versus the tv show. So, I have enjoyed this comic for years (no, it is not a graphic novel, it still comes out monthly, it is a comic!), and hopefully continue to do so until it ends.

Rick and his band get a little breather... Oh, sure, there's a little chomping and a little shooting here and there, but for the most part this is the feelgood part of the story arc. There's a wedding, a baby born, talk of more babies to come... a garden growing, new supplies... It's all gonna go to hell in a handbasket soon for sure, but at least they get to feel human again, for a little while....But have they also gone soft?That's the question.We find out in Book #8. Can't wait 'til it's out!

I watch the series - so i decided to review the comics. For some reason I am only permitted to read a comic once. When i try to go back to read a second time - i a m forwarded to a site to pay for it again.This doesn't happens with any books that I purchase - so i wont be purchasing anything from this series again.
