While I have never considered myself a Digest collector, I had been a subscriber of the Science Fiction Digests for decades. This digest sized fanzine completely sucked me in and I ended up reading it cover to cover. The production is flawless and I found no typos. It was filled with tons of cover reproductions and the the two new prose stories had numerous illustrations. The Joe Wehrle Jr. cover was excellent and convinced me to buy this book.My favorite articles of course are related to the SF digests the article about H.L.Gold's run at Galaxy and the interview with current Fantasy & Science Fiction editor Gordon Van Gelder. That article had the only one error I noticed when the interviewer stated TV Guide was no longer published. I have been a four decade long subscriber. True, it is no longer a digest (now the size of Time or People) and no longer weekly. It comes out about 30 times a year with numerous double issues covering two weeks.The Archie digests were a gateway to bring my pre-teen daughters into the world of reading, They loved them and I subscribed to a ton of them for them. I found that article very informative.Even the articles about magazines I never cared about like FATE and CORNET, I found interesting and has tempted me to look for back issues.And WOW the price is a steal . If you are a reader of any kind I recommend this wonderful new book for you. It is great I can't wait for the next issue.

A great nostalgic look at all the digest sized magazines that replaced the pulps on the news stands.

Excellent item!

Whether you grew up with digests like Galaxy, Fantasy and Science Fiction, and Analog, or are just discovering them, The Digest Enthusiast provides a great companion to help you discover these old and new gems. It does a good job of balancing the different genres, from Science Fiction to Mystery to Comics, and even includes original fiction short stories. The crime story "A Foul Breath of Fresh Air" by Richard Krauss does a great job of capturing the voice of the old pulps. This first issue also features original cartoons, several insightful interviews, some useful lists, and a lot of cover art thumbnails that bring back some great memories.

This was a really fun read - a good mix articles covering both old and new publications, plus some new works of fiction (complete with illustrations). Good things come in small packages!
